We have used glass containers since a long time – from the first century B.C.E to be precise. If there was an option to use 100% recyclable containers, instead of single-use disposables, which one would you pick? What if such container was safe, protecting against hormone disruptors and environmental destruction?

Single-use disposables outpopulated recyclable containers due to the simple reason of conveniency. The rise of plastic production made consumers rethink about globalization, as it negatively impacted the environment. Environmentalists and activists began to mandate for chemical free and eco-friendly containers, bringing back glass to the market.

As a result, AROMATICA increased the percentage of recycled glass to 65% in the process of manufacturing glass containers whereas, the general percentage is 30%. 1. Collect

First, collect wasted glass bottles.

2. Separate

Bottles and containers are separated according to their materials and colors. They must be wash thoroughly to remove any residual contents and adhesives, and any label present must be removed. This step is crucial to maintain the quality or purity of recyclable glass.

3. Cullet

The bottles are crushed into little pieces because melting will occur quicker due to the increase of surface,

just as powder sugar dissolves faster than cube sugar.

4. Melting Process

Crushed glass, mixed with quartz sand, soda, limestone, and more**, is melted in 1280˚C furnace.

In the process, all impurities such as bacteria are killed, and become hygienic materials for glass bottles and containers.

**Quartz sand: silicon dioxide/ soda: sodium carbonate / limestone: calcium carbonate

5. Glass Forming

The last step is the shaping of glass.
